Suggestions
There are many fine hotels in Alexandria with a
wide variety of pricing. Our objective was to identify reasonable
hotels nearest the Estate at Mount
Vernon.
The Best Western, Mount Vernon, is 3 miles from the
estate. It has been recently renovated, has large rooms, free
“deluxe” breakfast, plenty of parking, and has an AAA 2 diamond
rating. The hotel is at 8751 Richmond Hwy (US Route 1)
just north of Woodlawn Plantation and Mount Vernon Hwy. The
general manager Kathie Vance offered a Knights of the Vine group rate
of $109 per night plus tax. We reserved a block of 10

The Hampton Inn & Suites, Alexandria-Old
Town Area South, is at 5821
Richmond Hwy, immediately south of the
intersection of Richmond
Highway (US Route 1) and the Capital
Beltway. It is newly renovated, has free hot breakfast, plenty of
parking and shuttle service to and from Reagan
Airport, Old Town,
and the Washington
subway.
The Sales Manager Fred Graham offered special
Knights of the Vine group rates of $99 per night for a twin and $129
per night for an attractive suite plus taxes of 9%. We reserved a
block of 15 rooms. The rate applies until February 27. For

TRANSPORTATION:
We tried to arrange
shuttle transportation from the Hampton Inn to Mt. Vernon
and back but were unsuccessful. However, if so desire, we can
arrange van transportation from the Hampton Inn to and from the event
for about $30pp round trip gratuity included. If the demand is
sufficiently strong, and the numbers justify it, we can arrange
transportation via coach.
